Hank Marvin is one of the most affable, funny & generous musicians I have ever met. His first visit to Concept Music was in March 2001 when he came in and very casually wandered around before buying a copy of Acoustic Guitar Magazine and leaving. That would turn out to be first many return visits and, not unlike lots of our customers, the relationship developed quickly developed into a lasting friendship.
Recently, I'm happy to say that we've added Hank's son, Ben Marvin to the Concept Team, and he’s a natural. H'es also a wonderful guitarist, and LOVES helping people get started on their musical journey and chatting to the many local musicians who frequent us.
So, how did we end with one of Hank’s ‘58 Strats on display?
Not long after Ben started working here he said “How about I bring in one of Dad’s guitars in? Would that be OK?” ... and so, just as casually as Hanks very first visit some 20 years ago, the next week Ben walked in with an old beaten up tweed case containing one his Dad’s original 1958 fiesta red Fender Stratocasters & said “Here you go!”
