1. What is your role in the store?
Store Manager… I like to see myself as a senior solutions consultant, although the boys probably see me as Tony doin' the crazy deals !!
2. What styles of music are you into?
Enjoy all types of music from classic rock to cultural/ethnic vibes. Grew up listening to and playing Hendrix, The Doors, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Stones, and also 90's proud with Rage against the machine, Pearl Jam etc.
3. Equipment you currently own?
Very much into my vintage fender precision and jazz basses, but also love my Martin D35, custom shop 60's Strat and vintage re-issue Jazzmaster. Own loads of bass and guitar effects from vintage Big Muff, EBS red twister, Strymon El Capistan and Way Huge Havalina fuzz. Amp wise, can't go past the Ampeg SVT II and smaller TC Electronic combo for smaller gigs.
4. Piece of gear or instrument you have previously owned… and wish you never sold!
I never really sell anything I fall in love with and play. I like to collect as much good gear as possible and it comes in handy for recording ☺
5. Favourite guitar?
At the moment it’s my D35 Martin which blows me away every single time I pick it up and strum some chords! And of course my ’69 Precision bass (a great year) and has the fattest/warm tone.
6. Favourite effects pedal?
Has to be the Havalina fuzz from Way Huge for my guitar setup and of course the EBS octave which still kicks in when I need it on my bass rig.
7. Where do you play at the moment?
Been on a bit of a break from playing live and enjoying some creative time in the studio exploring new sounds and songs.
8. Who have you played with?
Have played in a small number of cover groups around Perth every now and again.
Mainly recorded and worked on original project with my Bro and have supported many Aussie artists such as Black Sorrows, Jimmy Barnes, Black Sorrows, Diesel, James Reyne, Jeff Martin, Daryl Braithwaite just to name a few.
9. When did you start playing?
Started playing drums at around 5 or 6 years of age and then moved to bass during primary school, but still love having a hit on drums any chance I get.
10. What is the best memory or gig you have played?
Will never forget my first outdoor gig at a local soccer oval playing to a huge crowd for a touring Italian singer. First experience on a massive stage and remember hearing and feeling my bass guitar just pumping out into the oval through the massive PA System… loved it! Not bad for a high school student at the time ☺
11. Who do most look up to musically or who has influenced you the most so far?
Grew up jamming with my brothers and watching them play many shows from side stages all around Perth …so I would have to say…. it’s their fault I fell into the world of music ☺
12. Best piece of advice you could give to other musicians?
Don’t over play and remember to leave some room for the groove.
