The S2 McCarty 594 is a versatile, vintage-inspired guitar that offers both humbucking and single-coil tones in a modern, reliable design. With a 22-fret Pattern Vintage neck, a slightly thicker body for increased sustain, and vintage-style tuners, this guitar combines classic features with contemporary performance. Equipped with USA-made 58/15 LT pickups, it delivers warm, vintage tones, capable of seamlessly switching between humbucking and single-coil sounds using its dual volume and push/pull tone controls.

For 2024, the PRS S2 Series has been updated with new USA-made pickups and electronics, enhancing its value and performance. The vintage-style tuners now feature lightweight "Wing" buttons, inspired by the 12th fret bird wingspan design. These buttons reduce weight, minimizing energy loss from the strings and improving sustain and tone. Additionally, the removal of the locking feature on non-tremolo models further lightens the guitar, contributing to a longer, more musical resonance.
