The Fender Custom Shop 1959 model marks a significant moment in Stratocaster history. It was the first year that modern elements like rosewood fingerboards and the classic 3-Color Sunburst finish were introduced. The Vintage Custom 1959 Stratocaster features a flat-laminated rosewood fingerboard and offers a choice of finishes, including Chocolate Three-Color Sunburst, Faded Aged Sonic Blue, and Fiesta Red, along with other unique and rare characteristics from the early days of the Stratocaster. Its flash-coat lacquer finish allows the guitar to resonate more naturally, delivering rich sustain and a warm tone. The neck has a vintage 7.25"-9.5" compound radius, found on a few rare models, offering a distinctive feel even among vintage-inspired guitars. It also has medium vintage frets, which are slightly larger than regular vintage frets and provide a comfortable playing experience.

Additional features include a two-piece select alder body, a tinted rift-sawn maple neck with a '59 "C"-shaped profile, 21 medium vintage frets, Custom Shop hand-wound '59 Strat single-coil pickups, a 5-way switch, vintage wiring, a 3-ply mint green nitrocellulose pickguard, an American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, a bone nut, a wing string tree, and vintage-style tuning machines.
